Mastering the ball trap is a crucial ball control skill that allows you to gain possession of the ball and keep it under your control. By trapping the ball with your foot you can quickly and effectively stop it and take control of its direction. This skill is particularly useful when facing an opponent, as it allows you to quickly change direction and keep possession of the ball while avoiding tackles.
In this drill, you will work on your ball control and trapping skills using the QUICKPLAY Spot Rebounder and a set of cones. To begin, pass the ball into the rebounder so that it bounces back to your feet. As the ball approaches, aim to trap it under your boot as it bounces keeping it under control. Once you have trapped the ball, turn and dribble through the cones at the back. Then, pass the ball back into the rebounder using your other foot and repeat the process. Try to see how many times you can do this in a minute, working to improve your speed and accuracy with each repetition.
