Outside Curl - Individual Ball Striking Drill

The Skill

The outside curl is a way to hit the ball with power so it bends the other way to the instep curl. You will use this technique to make a pass, cross or shot.

The Drill

Start with the ball on the floor and using the outside of your foot pass the ball into the Spot. To make it curl, strike across the back of the ball so that it spins outward and curls the same way. Your pass needs to come back within the coned area. and then take a touch so you can repeat the pass with your other foot. To complete the drill you need to be able to strike the ball so that it comes back within the coned area 5 times on your right foot and 5 times on your left foot. Start over if you miss or if the ball goes out of the coned area. As you improve move back to increase the difficulty until you can achieve the Pro target playing behind the 6m line.
